I'm a big insta stories girl

If you want to keep up-to-date with my latest travels, you'll find me over on Instagram.

  • Here’s what I spent backpacking for 40 days around Guatemala. 🇬🇹💰

If you followed my stories, you’ll know I was sick a lot during my time in Guatemala, hahaha, which explains why the alcohol total is quite low (for me!)🍺 and pharmacy costs are high. 💊

Given that Guatemala really isn’t as affordable as I expected it to be, I’m pretty chuffed with averaging €31 a day. 💪 But to be fair, volunteering on a farm for nearly two weeks helped balance my spending in Antigua and Lake Atitlán.

Big spends were the Mexico–Atitlán tourist shuttle (€50/Q425), 20 hours of Spanish lessons in Xela (€100/Q900), and the overnight Acatenango and Fuego hike (€68/Q600) 🌋

I kept costs down by shopping at markets, cooking in hostels, spending less on alcohol, and taking chicken buses. 🐥🚍

  • A day-in-my-life volunteering on a farm in the Guatemalan jungle. 🌴🥥🌿

As some of you know, last month I spent two weeks volunteering on a finca in Guatemala. Originally, the farm was a coffee plantation but now, there are big plans to transform it into a self-sustaining eco-community. It was a pleasure to be a tiny part of its transformation.🌞

This volunteer opportunity is on Worldpackers, so hit me up if you’d like me to send you the link❤️

  • I didn’t grow up travelling and wasn’t always the confident traveller you see now. I started as an absolute beginner, too.🌞

My first ever backpacking experience was interrailing around Europe at 18 years old. I came back to Wales from that trip thinking, “This is just the beginning; how can I make this my life?” From that moment on, I made it a priority, working throughout university to fund trips and then later, securing a remote job. 🥰

These are the 11 trips that shaped me into the traveller I am today:
1) Interrailing Europe (Age 18) 🚊
2) Backpacking around India (Age 20) 🇮🇳
3) Living and studying in Copenhagen (Age 21) 🇩🇰
4) Cycling to Barcelona (Age 22) 🚲
5) Living and working in Hong Kong (Age 22) 🇭🇰
6) SE Asia Trip (Age 23) 🌍
7) Bikepacking from Spain to Greece (Age 24) 🚴‍♀️
8) First time working as a digital nomad in Mexico (Age 25) 🇲🇽
9) Camino de Santiago (Age 26) 🥾
10) India Take 2 (Age 27) ✌️
11) Overlanding from Turkey to Pakistan (Age 28) 💪

Each of these trips shaped me in so many ways and I’m excited to see where the next 10 years take me ✨ what’s a trip that has changed you?

  • This has been a long one coming. Ever since I started travelling at 18, people often assume that I come from money or that my parents have been funding my trips. I hope this video clarifies a little bit about my background and upbringing and to clear up those misconceptions.

When I was younger, I felt so much shame about my circumstances. But as I’ve grown, I’ve come to feel proud that I’ve forged my own path and discovered the world without much guidance or financial help.

If this video reaches just one person from a low-income family and inspires them to push boundaries, step out of their comfort zone, and explore the world as I have, then it’ll all be worth it.

That said, I’m absolutely not slating people who’ve had financial help or the opportunity to travel from a young age. In fact, I hope to give my own children those experiences one day. I just want to be as transparent as possible through this account to show that the life you’re born into doesn’t define how you can live your life.

  • As promised, here is my travel budget breakdown for 2024. As a digital nomad I spent €11,191. Is it more or less than you thought? 🤔

Btw, this budget doesn’t include the 61 days I spent in the UK but the 301 days out of it. 🌎 Oh, and €1000 for the iPhone I bought in June & the dental treatment I had in October in India.

Buuuuut it does everything else, including visas, flights, accommodation, food, activities, bank fees and any travel and work related expenses.

Remember to check out my last post to find out where I travelled to 2024. 👀

  • I’m a little late to the “2024 year in review” party, but here we go!

To keep it chirpy, I’ve chosen not to include the December photo of me in hospital with typhoid fever, hahaha.

Here is my year in stats:

🌎Total days abroad: 301
📍Countries travelled to: 14
🔓New countries unlocked: 8 (Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan)
🥲Hardest visa to get: Russia
🇪🇸Most time spent in: Spain (my fav European country).
😂Least time spent in: Russia (4 days)

✈️ Planes taken: 11 flights (mostly all at the start of the year)
🚌 Bus journeys: 42
🚊 Train journeys: 9
🚖 Shared taxis: 41
👍 Hitchhikes: 14
🛵 Rental scooters: 8
🚘Rental cars: 2
👮 Armed police escort cars: 2 (Afghanistan & Pakistan, looking at you)

Soooo it’s been quite a year! A year of heartbreak, finding joy in travelling solo again, pushing myself physically and mentally and above all, making new friendships and carving out time for old ones.

Big love to all my friends and family who accept me being away for so much of the year. I head into 2025 full of love for the little life I’m creating and excitement for what’s to come. ✨
  • Just a little reflection on my 4-month backpacking overland trip from Turkey to Pakistan 🥹

Boooy, it was a journey and I’m happy I could take you with me.

This trip was not without its struggles, from being held up at the Russian border to sleeping next to the Taliban to getting outrageously sick while hitchhiking the Pamir highway. But hey, this is what travel is all about – riding the highs as well as the lows.

I set out on this trip to push myself and find strength and happiness after the end of my long-term relationship. Was it a success? Well, there are still emotions I need to work through but I definitely feel stronger and have a clearer vision of the life I want to create for myself. ❤️

If you’re scared to travel solo, don’t be; you’ll never be truly alone. To all the wonderful new friends I made along the way and the kind locals who welcomed me like family, thank you.

  • Day of my life as a nomad travelling in Amritsar, India 🇮🇳

I normally try to avoid Indian cities as I find them chaotic and noisy but I came to love Amritsar. I loved whizzing around on the back on Uber motos, drinking coffee on the rooftop, devouring Punjabi food and finding peace at the Golden Temple. 🪯

Also it may seem weird to some that I’m getting dental treatment in India, but the quality and pricing is crazy good compared to the UK, so why not? 🦷
