san cristobal cafe

1. Cafeologia

Right on Real de Guadalupe, you’ll find Cafeologiá, which serves hands down the best coffee in San Cristóbal de las Casas. It’s a little bit on the fancy side, but hella worth paying that little bit extra for the environment and AC. It has a beautiful courtyard and delish baked goods.

La Frontera is the perfect place to chill and soak up some sun. The coffee is good, but people come here for the beautiful courtyard and chill vibes. You’ll also find La Espirituosa, a great craft ale and pox bar here.

3. Sarajevo Cafe Jardin

Sarajevo Café Jardin is a beautiful cafe oasis with plenty of space and big tables to work or read a book. It’s more expensive for a coffee, but the calm and cosy environment makes up for it!

4. Sweetbeat

courtyard of sweetbeat, cafe in san cristobal de las casas

Right next to Frontera, you’ll find Sweetbeat, a lush, green courtyard cafe (San Cristobal is full of stunning courtyards if you haven’t already gathered!). It’s the perfect spot to get work done, do some journaling, and read a book. Oh, and their breakfasts are out of this world.

5. Libre Cafe

Libré Cafe is a great spot to have a coffee. The terrace is chill, full of a mix of people, and the coffee is pretty good too.

It’s also located on my favourite foodie street in San Cristobal. You’ve got the delicious bakery, Panaderia Artisanal Roots; a homemade cheese and ice cream shop, Lácteos Maya; and a chocolateria, Jangala, just a few seconds away.

Price: $
A cup of coffee costs: MXN 35
Wifi: Central hidden spot to sit and relax, and even work.
Opening times: Monday – Saturday: 9 am to 9 pm. Sunday: 1 pm to 8 pm.

6. Kukulpan!

The coffee is alright, but I’m putting it here because of their outside patio and great breakfast. This is the perfect place to meet a friend for coffee and enjoy the sun.

Price: $/$$
A cup of coffee costs: MXN45
Wifi: Okay, it’s great for journaling, but not really a spot to work on your laptop, though.
Opening times: Every day, 8 am to 8 pm.

So go on, off you go; I know you’ll love these spots as much as I did. They are, after all, the best cafes in San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
